The estate extends about 120 hectares on the territory of four villages of the “Coast of North Wind” (Castell’Umberto, Naso, Tortorici and Floresta) and, besides the high-quality extra virgin oil, it produces citrus fruit, filberts (hazelnuts), fruit and vegetables on the hilly farms and also potatoes and typical cheeses (canestrato, provole, salty sun-dried ricotta) in the ex-fief “Abbadessa”, situated at 1,400 meters of altitude on the splendid cordillera of the Nebrodi Mountains.
The cultural practices are absolutely organic, in the wake of his family tradition.
In the several farms there exist rural buildings, that have been restructured so as to be able to offer country staying.
According to the periods, you can be present at the harvest of products or at the transformation of the same, for instance: the grinding of the olives, the picking of the filberts, the preparation and the bottling of the tomato sauce, the transformation of milk in products such as the different types of cheese, ricotte, provole , etc., according to techniques that have been handed down for centuries.
We already have at our disposal some country houses, recently restructured and endowed with every modern comfort, situated on several farms of the Firm, that extends 120 hectares on the splendid slopes of the Nebrodi Mountains, in the territory of Castell'Umberto, Naso and Tortorici.
Each of them is served by a carriage road, electricity and Firm water system, and is provided with furniture, furnishings and linen.
The modules are from two to five rooms. On the several farms of the Firm, besides the extra virgin oil, we produce, with the traditional dairy techniques, typical cheeses (canestrato, provole, salty ricotta) and also filberts, citrus fruit, summer fruit (cherries, figs, grapes, prickly pears, pears, apples, summer strawberries, and so on) and all the vegetables in season.
The hilly situation allows you to enjoy an ideal climate for restful and relaxing stays, as well as to have a Seaside-Mountain holiday, with morning flying visits (trips) to free beaches or to the equipped ones of Capo D'Orlando or of S. Gregorio, (always free) in a splendid and blue sea, and to spend the afternoons and the evenings enjoying the cool of the heights of the Nebrodi Mountains, among hazelnut-trees, orchards, olive-groves and woods.
We are reachable through the highway Messina-Palermo, at 100 km from Messina and at 150 kms from Palermo - Exit Rocca di Caprileone + about 10 kms of a main road.
The houses are about 4 kms far from Castell'Umberto, a modern mountain village that offers sport facilities (clay-pigeon shooting, race-course, swimming-pool, tennis courts and bowling-greens); it was built after the landslide of the ancient Castania of Valdemone, of which you can still see the seventeenth-century remains in the so-called "Vecchio Centro" (Old Center).
The site allows easy excursions to the Eolie Isles (summer connection from Capo d'Orlando and all year round from Milazzo); to Etna Volcano at about 55 kms, or to impressive naturalistic destinations in the Nebrodi Park (Rocks of the Crasto, Lake Biviere at Montesoro, Lake of Three Arie, and so on).
Also, every village in the Nebrodi hinterland, like Naso, Castell'Umberto, Tortorici, Capo d'Orlando, S.Salvatore di Fitalia, in the summer period organize a series of free enjoyable recreational and cultural activities: concerts, shows, sports competitions and feasts of typical products.
In the different periods it is possible to make excursions in the woods and pick up (wood strawberries), mushrooms, chestnuts or other field fruit such as asparaguses, chicories, blackberries or aromatic essences such as origan, fennel, nepitella, laurel and so on.
Those who love to make a night of it can reach the towns on the coast, Capo d'Orlando for instance, where they can find night-clubs, discos, pubs, piano bars, etc. The Nebrodis, besides being Sicily "green lung" thanks to the presence of an uncontaminated nature, can boast an ancient hospitality tradition and a high gastronomy, that utilizes the local natural aromas making foods appetizing and unique.
